Health insurance and hospitals in Thailand
Medical services in Thailand are at a high level due to the developed network of clinics, both public and private. Prices for services of private clinics are high and close to the level of service in medical centres of the USA and Western Europe. Therefore, we always recommend buying insurance for everyone who plans to have a holiday or permanently live in Thailand.
The insurances are classified into international and Thai-international. The main difference between them is that when buying international travel insurance, you always need to apply for medical care to the company Assistant.
Pluses: convenient for those who visit the country for a short period of time (trip not exceeding 90 days).⠀
Minuses: waiting for a response from the company takes a long time; the choice of hospital will be at the discretion of the insurance company.
There are many such insurance companies and you can easily find information on the Internet, or get advice from tour agencies. The main thing when choosing – always be aware of what is not covered by the insurance. Read the terms of the contract carefully to avoid mistakes and troubles.
If you intend to reside in Thailand permanently, the above insurance will not be suitable for you and you will need to arrange it with a local insurance company that operates in Thailand, Southeast Asia and other countries.
